KEEP EASTON GREEN

Thank you for visiting my campaign fundraiser website and for your interest in the future of Easton. I’m deeply grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received from so many in our community.

Together, we can protect and preserve what we all love about Easton – our natural beauty, our quiet neighborhoods, and our strong sense of community – while strengthening our schools, local government, home values, and the Centennial Watershed for generations to come. I’m running to bring fairness, transparency, and principled leadership to Town Hall, and I look forward to earning your trust and your vote.

With gratitude,

Dan

Dan believes in

  • A forest scene with ferns, trees, and a colorful fall landscape in the distance under a blue sky.

    INTEGRITY

Dan will uphold the highest ethical standards in his campaign and as Selectman if elected. Integrity is being guided by principles and rules, rather than self-interest. In his career as a patent attorney and as an advocate for conservation issues, Dan has always conducted himself ethically. He has also served on the Ethics Ordinance committee, the Helen Keller school climate committee, and the Easton Conservation Commission. He has invested his personal time and money in lawsuits where he felt public officials were acting unethically by selectively enforcing our zoning laws.

  • A small, weathered metal shed in a green field, with a bright blue sky and scattered clouds overhead. There are fence posts and a grassy landscape extending into the distance.

    EQUALITY

Community rules need to be applied equally to all citizens by Easton’s Boards and Commissions. Dan is especially concerned that Easton’s Planning and Zoning Commission has been granting special exceptions to our zoning regulations, effectively allowing commercialization via special permits. This is a practice in which a Connecticut Superior Court Judge has criticized Easton for following improper ‘spot zoning’ procedures.

  • Snow-covered trees lining a winding road on a clear winter day with a blue sky.

    TRANSPARENCY

Dan stands for greater transparency in the Easton government. He believes that under the D'Addario/Bindelglass administration, vital information relating to environmental and zoning issues was withheld from the public or released only after pressure.

Dan points to the State of Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Commission’s rebuke of First Selectman David Bindelglass for his 2024 complaint against a resident for filing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests at Town Hall.  The complaint was dismissed without hearing, having been deemed as failing to ‘detail conduct that demonstrates a vexatious history of requests.’

    DEFENDING EASTON

Easton and Connecticut's other 169 towns’ right to govern themselves, particularly in land use policy, has been under continuous assault by Hartford politicians. The ultimate veto of HB 5002, which would have transferred land use control away from towns like Easton, was an inspiration for Dan to run for office. Dan understands the power of the Easton First Selectman’s office is limited, but he is committed to using the office to publicize and crusade against Hartford's unworkable and unfair mandates.
